EDN Magazine Names Intersil's ISL78228 Dual 800mA Low Quiescent Current Synchronous Buck Regulator to 2011 ‘Hot 100 Products’ List

Compact Dual Regulator Fully Qualified for Automotive Applications

Milpitas, Calif, Dec. 12, 2011 - Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL) today announced that its ISL78228 dual 800mA 2.25MHz synchronous buck regulator for automotive applications has been named one of EDN Magazine's Hot 100 products for 2011. The 2011 EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness, and popularity.

The ISL78228 DC/DC regulator provides 1.6A (2 x 800mA, independently-settable) in just nine square millimeters, delivering regulated power to remote safety cameras, infotainment systems, control modules and other space-constrained automotive applications. It can power microcontrollers, microprocessors, DSPs or other digital circuitry, and its 2.75V to 5.5V input voltage range permits powering from common 3.3V or 5V automotive module supply rails. Internal current-mode compensation provides fast transient response, allowing 96% duty cycle for low dropout and eliminating the need for external compensation components.

The new EDN award marks the second consecutive year that a leading-edge Intersil product has been named to the Hot 100 list. In 2010, EDN selected the company's MegaQ™ adaptive equalizer IC, capable of delivering composite video through one mile of cable, as one of the outstanding product introductions.
