Economic Boost for Florida's Space Coast Expected with Intersil Donation of $13M Building to University of Central Florida

What: Intersil (NASDAQ Global Select: ISIL) will officially turn over its $13 million semiconductor fabrication facility (Fab) to the University of Central Florida. Dave Bell, CEO of Intersil, and John Hitt, president of UCF, will share how their collaboration can revitalize Florida's Space Coast and help keep the U.S. competitive in technology innovation.
UCF is planning to use the donation to expand its presence in Brevard County as a center for innovation and education. The building will be used for a variety of purposes centered on training, research, particularly in sustainable energy, business development and education.
Following the ceremony, Intersil will give tours of its other Fab in Palm Bay to demonstrate the process used to create the integrated circuits that go into aerospace and industrial products.
Intersil has been on virtually every satellite and shuttle mission over the last 40 years. Its products have helped ensure the nations security through monitoring, defensive and offensive capabilities.
