Corega Selects Intersil's PRISM GT Chip Set with PRISM Nitro Technology to Provide Increased Range and Throughput for their New 802.11g Router

-- Corega's 802.11g WLAN products incorporate Intersil’s enhanced security solution, PRISM Nitro™ technology and best-in-class power consumption

MILPITAS, CA, June 23, 2003 – Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that corega , a leading provider of high quality networking solutions, has selected Intersil’s PRISM GT™ Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) chip set for the new corega WLBAR-54GT Wireless Router. Corega has now incorporated PRISM Nitro technology in their complete suite of 802.11g products that also include the corega WLCB-54GT Wireless PC Card and the corega WLAP-54GT Wireless Access Point.

The corega WLBAR-54GT Wireless Router uses Intersil’s PRISM GT chip set that achieves the lowest standby current, receive current, and average idle current of any 802.11g solution on the market today. PRISM GT’s Power Save Mode achieves the WLAN industry’s lowest average idle and active currents — beating the competition by up to 75%. PRISM Nitro technology enables corega’s 802.1lg products to perform up to 3x times faster in mixed-mode wireless networks and up to 50% greater in 802.11g only networks.

“Intersil’s PRISM GT chip set provided the most powerful wireless networking solution available on the market today to enable our new 802.11g wireless networking products,” said Seiki Ishizu, Managing Director and COO of corega K.K. “The corega WLBAR-54GT Wireless Router, the corega WLCB-54GT Wireless PC Card and corega WLAP-54GT Wireless Access Point are ideal for high-bandwidth enterprise applications as well as advanced home networking applications.”

“Intersil’s PRISM GT solution is a full featured, complete solution that has won industry accolades for its performance and full compliance to the newly approved 802.11g standard,” said Larry Ciaccia, Vice President and General Manager of Intersil’s Wireless Networking Product Group. “Corega is a well established supplier in the Japanese retail channel and is known for quality, high performance solutions. We are very pleased that corega continues to integrate our PRISM GT chip set in their growing list of new 802.11g WLAN products.”
