Corega Selects Intersil's PRISM GT Chip Set for Their New 802.11g Wireless PC Card and Access Point
-- Corega's new 802.11g WLAN products are targeted for the consumer and SOHO markets~-- PRISM GT technology delivers the speed of 802.11a speed and range of 802.11b WLAN systems
MILPITAS, CA, January 21, 2003 Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a world leader in the design and manufacture of high performance analog and wireless networking solutions, today announced that corega , a leading provider of high quality networking solutions, has selected Intersils PRISM GT Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN) chip set for their new corega WLCB-54G (Wireless PC Card) and corega WLAP-54G Set (Wireless Access Point and Wireless PC Card).
The new corega PC Card and AP incorporate Intersils highly integrated two-chip PRISM GT solution. Since both the 802.11b and 802.11g standards are built in, the user can protect their investment in an existing 802.11b infrastructure while migrating their network to the new 802.11g draft standard with data transmission speeds up to 54 million bits per second (Mbps). Intersils PRISM GT technology is fully compatible with any 802.11b radio.
Corega provides a complete range of wireless products for the consumer and small office/home office (SOHO), and our new 802.11g products will significantly enhance the broadband experience for our customers, said Seiki Ishizu, managing director and COO of corega. PRISM GTs high data rate and reliable performance enabled corega to develop wireless networking solutions that are optimized for high-data-rate performance in compliance to the IEEEs 802.11g draft standard.
Intersils PRISM GT technology delivers the fast 54 Mbps speed of 802.11a WLAN systems with the superior range of 802.11b wireless networks, said Larry Ciaccia, vice president and general manager of Intersils Wireless Networking Product Group. corega has a well established and extensive distribution and retail channel in Japan. We are very excited to add corega to the growing list of global customers bringing PRISM GT-based products to market.
