CommLink Family Targets Communications Market
Harris’ CommLink Communications ICs offer high performance and flexibility for communications design
SAN JOSE, Wireless Symposium ‘99, February 23, 1999 – Harris Semiconductor today introduces the CommLink family, a competitively-priced portfolio of CMOS digital-to-analog converters (DACs), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and programmable digital radio solutions designed specifically for the ever-expanding communications market.
SAN JOSE, Wireless Symposium 99, February 23, 1999 Harris Semiconductor today introduces the CommLink family, a competitively-priced portfolio of CMOS digital-to-analog converters (DACs), analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and programmable digital radio solutions designed specifically for the ever-expanding communications market.
CommLink ICs provide communications designers with a powerful arsenal of price and performance options. For signal processing, Harris product portfolio includes high speed, pin-compatible DACs in 8-,10-, 12- and 14-bit resolutions in single and dual channel product offerings, with 60 and 125MSPS update rates; and a comparable selection of ADCs, with resolutions from 8- to 14-bit and speeds from 3MSPS up to 500 MSPS. The CommLink family also includes programmable digital radio solutions that are capable of supporting multiple air interface standards such as TDMA, GSM and CDMA for cellular basestation applications.
At this years Wireless Symposium & Exhibition in San Jose, Calif., Harris will announce its newest CommLink DACs, which include the HI5960 (14-bit single), HI5860 (12-bit single), HI5828 (12-bit dual), HI5660 (8-bit single), and HI5628/6 (8-bit dual. All of these devices are well-suited for the transmit section of communications systems. With the pin compatibility of the CommLink DACs and ADCs, designers can easily adjust their designs to achieve their desired system-level performance and cost targets.
The entire CommLink Family is particularly well-suited for high-speed, high performance applications such as wireless local loop, cellular basestations, point-to-point and I & Q modems. In addition, CommLink products can be utilized for instrumentation applications such as ultrasound equipment and other signal-generation applications.
Harris also formally will announce at Symposium 99, the HSP50216, a multi-channel programmable downconverter capable of processing narrow-band TDMA through IS-95 CDMA for use in digital radios and basestation receivers. The HSP50216 serves as a key component of Harris digital radio solutions for cellular basestations.
Harris 8- and 10-bit DACs (single and dual-channel versions) are available now in production quantities; samples of the 12/14-bit DACs are currently available, with full production slated for mid 1999. Harris CommLink DSP products, including the HSP50216, multi-channel programmable downconverter, will soon be available for sampling; followed by the HSP50217, multi-channel programmable upconverter, which will be available later this calendar year.
