Harlow Town residents: 80,000+
Employees: 10
Harlow is set in the heart of the Essex and Hertfordshire countryside
with early settlements in the area dating back to pre-Roman times. 17th
and 18th Century buildings can be found alongside the newer properties
built when Sir Frederick Gibberd designed the town just over 50 years
ago. Harlow is now bustling with over 80,000 residents and a total of
1500 businesses employing 33000 people. Yet it manages to balance the
needs of both business and environment with more than one third of land
use devoted to parks and woodlands and its ‘green town’ reputation
is further enhanced with an excellent network of cycle routes.
Only 20-minutes drive from London Stansted Airport and 10 minutes
from the M11 London to Cambridge motorway, easy access is obtained to
international and UK travel routes, world-class universities and high
tech business communities. Sport and recreation is a high priority for
Harlow residents and the area boasts many sports and leisure clubs, golf
courses, theatres and cinemas and with London and Cambridge both only a
40-minute drive away the possibilities for cultural pursuits is endless.
